Program Description

The objective of the Radiologic Technology Program at Mt. San Jacinto College is to prepare students to become competent and confident radiographers who provide exceptional patient care in the field of medical imaging. The program is designed to develop entry-level radiologic technologists skilled in cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Students will master techniques in radiographic positioning, technical factor selection, radiation protection, patient care, and effective communication. They will also develop critical thinking skills and adaptability necessary to meet the dynamic demands of clinical environments.

Students gain hands-on experience with radiographic equipment in state-of-the-art campus labs, which is further enhanced through clinical training at affiliated medical facilities. This combination of didactic and practical education prepares students to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification exam, a critical step toward employment in the field. The program’s emphasis on ethical practices and professional development ensures that graduates meet the high standards required of healthcare professionals.

Students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology Program benefit from high-quality education that supports career readiness and employability. Upon completing the program’s curriculum, including general education, prerequisite, and radiologic coursework totaling 64 units, students earn an Associate in Science degree in Radiologic Technology. The program is a non-transferable degree pathway focused on direct entry into the workforce, where graduates are well-equipped to excel as healthcare professionals.
