First Year Experience at MSJC

FYE at MSJC

Mt. San Jacinto College’s First Year Experience (FYE) Program is designed to make sure students have a smooth transition into college life. We provide first year students with extra support during their first two semesters, so they connect with the college and identify a degree path that leads to faster degree completion or transfer. As a result, students in FYE are more likely to persist to their second year than their fellow-peers.

The Summer/Fall 2020 - Spring 2021 FYE application period has ended.

Students in the FYE Program have access to:

FYE students are able to register for classes earlier than most students, meaning you are able to get into the classes you need during the times you want them! Check your registration date on Eagle Advisor and see if you have any holds that could prevent you from registering early.

FYE applications must be received by May 31, 2020 to receive early registration for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Applications received after May 31, 2020 will only receive early registration for Spring 2021.

The MSJC Promise removes a major financial barrier to attending college by providing first-time, full-time students with FREE reimbursement tuition. Completing the FYE application does not guarantee free tuition through the MSJC Promise Program. Please see the MSJC Promise tab for details and eligibility requirements.

Let the FYE Counselors help you start your academic journey right by completing an Educational Plan - your roadmap to success! FYE Counselors ensure you stay on track for graduation, are on the right path to transfer, and that you are connecting to the college culture by meeting with an FYE mentor. You can receive academic, career, transfer, personal, and crisis counseling at our office.

Now sure how to navigate Eagle Advisor, Self Service, or Canvas? Need assistance registering for classes? Not sure where to purchase your textbooks? FYE Mentors are students like you but with experience. They work with incoming students to build effective study habits, navigate the college process and technology, and who direct students to the various programs and services offered on campus. FYE students may schedule an appointment or walk-in.

Join FYE and be part of Summer Bridge! All FYE students are encouraged to attend this FREE 2-Day in-depth orientation. Students will learn how to register for classes, receive financial aid information, and learn about college culture and resources before starting college.

College is much more than just attending class; it's about connecting with the college and finding your place here at MSJC. FYE encourages students to participate in the several cultural events, sporting events, clubs, program, and workshops happening on campus. Check out what FYE events and workshops are happening this semester.

Any first time college student can become part of the FYE program! Students with incoming transferring units are not considered first time college students. Previous dual or concurrent enrollment students who took courses through MSJC are welcome to apply. Completing the FYE application does not guarantee free tuition through the MSJC Promise Program. Please see the MSJC Promise tab for details and eligibility requirements.

FYE applications must be received by May 31, 2020 to receive early registration for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Applications received after May 31, 2020 will only receive early registration for Spring 2021.
