Welcome Back!

Dear MSJC Colleagues and Students,

On behalf of Mt. San Jacinto College, I would like to personally welcome you to the spring 2021 semester. For our new students, we are honored that you have selected Mt. San Jacinto College to begin your educational endeavors.  For our returning students, congratulations on a successful fall semester and welcome back! We are excited to have you all in our virtual learning environments this semester and want to express our deepest commitment to your academic success and achievement.

With the first week behind you, we hope that you are settling into the new class routines and schedules and have been able to seamlessly navigate our website, Canvas, and other online resources to find the support and assistance that you need. If you require additional assistance and seek the support of a counselor, have questions with your registration and enrollment, or would like to speak to a staff member regarding financial aid opportunities, we encourage you to visit our Student Support Hub where you will be able to speak and connect with a live staff member that is looking forward to providing you with direction and guidance.

We know that many of us did not anticipate the pandemic carrying into the spring term; however, as we've seen over the past year you are one of the most resilient, strong, and determined group of students we have ever had the pleasure of serving and we are hopeful for the future opportunities the new vaccines may afford us all. We ask that you continue to be safe by wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing. If you are interested in learning more about the vaccine, please visit the Riverside Public Health Department

Mt. San Jacinto College not only aims to provide you with a quality educational experience, but we are also committed to providing you a safe, inclusive and welcoming community. We are proud of our continued work as an anti-racist institution that celebrates our diversity, recognizes our various cultures, histories, and lived experiences, and works to eradicate systemic racism. Last week, we celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day-long celebration with moving speeches and recitations of his letters. If you were unable to join us, please go to our website to view the recording of the day's event. We welcome you to join us at future equity-related events throughout the semester and ask that you review our Call to Action to create a community of support and care for each other.

We've got so much to look forward to this year and lots of work ahead! We are confident that you will accomplish great things this semester. As always, we are here to support you in any way that we can - so please contact us and reach out if you are in need of help.

I wish you the very best this semester and I am so proud to call you Eagles!

Sincerely,

Roger Schultz
Superintendent/President
