MSJC Call to Action

Radical Reduction of Opportunity Gaps for our African American and Black Students

In alignment with the California Community College's Chancellors Office declaration for a system-wide Call to Action against structural and systemic racism, Mt. San Jacinto College is mobilizing to actively strategize and take immediate and swift action to eradicate racism on our campus that impacts students, faculty, classified professionals and administrators.

The Mt. San Jacinto Community College District Board of Trustees on Thursday, June 25, 2020, unanimously adopted a resolution supporting dismantling systemic racism and ensuring the success of African American and Black students at MSJC.

Umoja Community

Meeting Day/Time: Wednesdays | 12pm

Umoja will be hosting weekly meetings and you are all invited. The 1st and 3rd Wednesdays will be our structured meetings where we discuss Black and African-American historical, current, and personally events to engage in culturally relevant learning. The 2nd and 4th Wednesdays will serve as what we call "The Porch". This is a learning environment that is open, respectful and playful. The porch can often be candid and sometimes even painful, but the Umoja family is there to help you deal with the pain you are dealing with.
