Charla Murray has worked in education for many years in several different capacities.  From being a Preschool Teacher to a Special Education Aide to school office staff, her love and passion for working with students has remained the same.  She has always been dedicated to helping students reach their full potential and helping them be successful whatever their situation or circumstance.​


She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development from Chico State and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Azusa Pacific University.  She also has 10 years of experience in the Business/Retail field.

She has the mindset that anything worth doing is worth working hard to achieve, so she is extremely grateful for the opport​unity to come on board at MSJC.  She is looking forward to serving our students a​nd guiding them to achieve their goals.​​​​

chanise walker

Chanise Walker has been a counselor and group facilitator who provided advocacy and support services for students throu​gh educational services. Since 2007, she has been serving as a counselor and project manager at the Betty Ford Center, part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. In these roles, Chanise has facilitated educational support groups and trainings throughout the K-12 setting and colleges.  These varied experiences give her a deep appreciation of the methods that are used at schools and colleges to improve the quality of life and academic success for students. Chanise holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tuskegee University and a Master’s degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Redlands.

Elizabeth Agusti Becerra is a native of Lima, Peru where she spent her formative years. At 20 years of age, she moved to California where​ she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.


In 2013, she moved to Spain where she earned her Master of Science degree in Organizational Psychology and in 2020, she earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. As a first-generation student, she wants students to experience the transformative power of education because it fosters academic, professional, and personal growth at micro and macro levels.

Leanne Windmiller

​​R. Leanne Windmiller has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts in Education, with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, from Azusa Pacific University. She has been a Montessori teacher, worked in g​roup homes to serve and de-escalate clients, as a substitute teacher, a Scholarship Coordinator, 504 Plan Coordinator, and as a School Counselor guiding students from TK-12.​

Leanne was born to humble beginnings in a family full of love and support. She persevered to be a first generation college graduate and received initial guidance at SDSU through E.O.P. (Equal Opportunity Program). Leanne enjoys helping others achieve their goals through guidance and support. She does so through actively listening to her students and then providing steps to obtain their personal and professional goals.​​

Miriam Brijandez

Miriam Brij​​andez was born and raised in San Diego, CA whose parents immigrated to United States from Mexico in 1962. She is grateful to consider herself bi-cultural understanding both her Hispanic roots and the United States culture. Miriam has a​ Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from San Diego Christian College and a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Guidance & Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University. Miriam appreciates and understands attending school as an adult. She finished most of her education as a working adult, a mother and a wife figuring out her life goals. She finds it of great significance to connect, guide and support her students by serving the student in reaching their personal, educational and future goals. As an adult learner, she understands the challenges of attending school later in life.

 Veronica Jauregui - College of the Desert, Liberal Arts AA. Chapman University, Social Science BA. University of Redlands, Counseling PPS, MA. First generation, ESL student dedicated to helping students reach their goals through guidance and self-expression. 

Jennifer Nickerson

Jennifer Nickerson was born and raised in the Hemet Valley community, where she’s active in her community. Her passion for student advocacy ignited 20 years ago while supporting middle and high school students and now college students. Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology through Ashford University and in 2018 earned a Masters degree in Educational Counseling through Azusa Pacific University.

Jennifer knows firsthand how challenging it is to raise a family while obtaining a higher education. She believes an individual should “Never Stop Learning, Because Life Never Stops Teaching”. She is Understanding of student diversity and is dedicated to supporting adults who are seeking direction in setting personal, educational and career goals.

Karie White

Karie White has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in Special Education from the University of the Pacific and a Master degree in Counseling, with an emphasis in Career Development, from University of San Diego. 
Ka​​rie grew up in​ Temecula since 1978. She had challenges and struggles but she persevered and was the first in her family to go to college. She moved away for college and life but returned 9 years ago to give back to the community who supported and gave her so much. She wants to students to know that there are training, schooling, and college and career options out there for every person. She enjoys working with students and providing concrete help, support and resources to help students establish, pursue and fulfill their academic and career goals.

Denise McGregor
 As a first-generation college student in her family, Denise McGregor finds encouraging adult students’ dreams inspiring. Ms. McGregor earned a Bachelor​ of Art’s degree in Spanish from Alma College in Michigan, a Master’s in Guidance & Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, and a Certificate in College Counseling from the University of California, San Diego. She served as both a middle school and high school guidance counselor, college admissions counselor, and a First Year Experience counselor in The EDGE Program at College of the Desert prior to joining MSJC Adult Education/Non-Credit staff in 2017.​
